Abstract

An explosive material, described as oxidized hexamethylenetetramine, is prepared by passing gaseous ammonia into a commercial aqueous solution of formaldehyde at a temperature not exceeding 10 DEG C., adding nitric acid of specific gravity not below 1,52 to the resulting hexamethylenetetramine solution while maintaining the temperature at 5 DEG C. or below, and drying the precipitate which forms. An example is given. British Specifications 145,791, [Class 9 (ii)], and 388,615 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to German Specification 104,280 and other documents.
