Abstract

Aldehydes are condensed with pyrimidines containing as substituents (1) a hydrazino group, (2) an amino or hydrazino group, and if desired, (3) other substituents which may be members of mono- or polynuclear carbocyclic rings. In examples, 2 : 4 : 6-trihydrazidopyrimidine, 2 : 4 - dihydrazidoquinazoline or 2 - hydroxy-4 : 6-dihydrazidopyrimidine is condensed with formaldehyde in the presence of pyridine. Samples have been furnished under Sect. 2 (5) of condensation products of formaldehyde and aminohydrazinoquinazoline or 5 : 6 - dibenzo-2 : 4-dihydrazinoquinazoline or of butyraldehyde and 2 : 4 : 6-trihydrazinopyrimidine. 2 : 4 : 6-Trihydrazidopyrimidine is obtained by reacting hydrazine with 2 : 4 : 6-triaminopyrimidine. 2 : 4-Dihydrazidoquinazoline is obtained by reacting hydrazine with 2 : 4-dichloroquinazoline. 2-Hydroxy-4 : 6-dihydrazidopyrimidine is obtained by reacting hydrazine hydrate with 2-hydroxy-4 : 6-diaminopyrimidine. 5 : 6-Benzo-2 : 4-dihydrazidoquinazoline is obtained by reacting hydrazine hydrate with 5 : 6-dibenzo-2 : 4-dichloroquinazoline. 2-Amino-4-hydrazidoquinazoline is obtained by reacting 2 : 4-dichloroquinazoline with ammonia to obtain the monochlormonoaminoquinazoline and reacting this with hydrazine hydrate.
