Abstract
419,995. Engine valve gear. RUUD, O. S., 40, Jacob Aallsgate, Oslo, Norway. Feb. 6, 1934, No. 3892. Addition to 398,765. [Class 122 (ii).] Spring gears operating in both directions. -In a windscreencleaner operated by a piston adapted to be reciprocated in a cylinder by valve-controlled fluid under pressure, the piston has inclined faces coacting directly with a resiliently-mounted wedge - like member on a reciprocating slide valve. In the construction shown, the cylinder 1 of the motor contains a double - ended piston with a connecting bar 4 formed with inclined faces 5, 6, which are adapted to engage a wedgeshaped member 7. This member fits in a cylinder 9 connected to a slide valve 10 and is pressed against the bar 4 by a spring 8. Pressure fluid enters the cylinder 9 through an inlet 11 and communicates through an opening 12 with a channel 13 leading to the lower end of the cylinder whereby the piston is moved towards the other end. During this movement the wedge 7 is depressed until it engages the face 6 of the bar 4, whereupon the slide valve 10 is moved to connect the inlet 11 with the opening 14 so that the fluid enters the cylinder at the upper end, causing the piston to move downwardly. Exhaust fluid passes out through an opening 18. The piston is connected by a flexible sheathed wire connection 17 to the windscreen-wiper.
