Abstract

417,446. Thermionic valves. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., and ROBINS, T. A., 22, Highbury Grove, London. Feb. 2, 1933, No. 3158. [Class 39 (i).] An indirectly heated cathode is formed by loosely mounting on an insulated heating element 4 a metal tube a, Fig. 4, plate 1, Fig. 7, clip 8, Fig. 10, or hook 11, Fig. 15, and then covering the heating element by plating or spraying with a metal coating, which forms a conducting surface continuous with the tube or plate r. The metal coating is covered with an electron emitting material. The plate 1 has two slots 2 formed therein, the tongues 3 moved to form these slots resting on the heating element. As shown in Figs. 7, 10 and 15 the electrode is tensioned by a spring 7, whose lower end is formed with a hook to support the plate 1 &c. ; the spring rests on an insulated plate 18 provided with a tongue 19 which forms the connecting terminal for the electrode.
