Abstract
858,417. X-ray tubes. ELY, R. E. V. Sept. 13, 1957 [Sept. 14, 1956], No. 28193/56. Divided out of 858,416. Class 39(1). In an X-ray tube comprising a target which may be adapted to be moved for adjustment purposes and/or while the tube is in operation, the target is supported by an insulating carrier and the operating potential is applied thereto by means of a contact element pressing against the target. As shown, the contact element is a spring loop or brush 10 supported by a metal rod 6 which is mounted in an insulator sleeve 21 fixed to one end of the envelope 3 by means of a clamp nut 22. The target assembly 5 and the mounting thereof may be of the kind described in Specification 858,416. The contact element 10 is preferably positioned approximately opposite the focusing cup of the electron gun 4.
