Abstract
615,126. Caps and holders for discharge tubes. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., WINDSOR, L. R. E., ROWE, E. G., and FREEMAN, G. V. H. July 26, 1946, Nos. 22306 and 25222. [Class 38 (i)] In a thermionic valve of the type having circularly disposed contact pins 3 and a central spigot 4, there is provided a locating pin 5 outside the contact pin circle, or as shown consisting of sheet metal bent to a T-shape, the extremities of the cross-arm thereof being secured, e.g. by welding to two adjacent contact pins. Fig. 3 shows a holder for the valve comprising insulating sheets 11, 21 riveted together, two of the socket holes 13 therein being joined together to form an aperture 15 which is shaped to receive the locating pin 5. Located across the upright of the T of aperture 15 is a U-shaped spring wire 9 which engages a notch 8 in the upright 7 of the locating pin when the valve is inserted in the holder. A screen on the valve may be earthed by a metal strip fixed at one end to the locating pin, the other end extending up the outside of the screen on to which it is pressed when the valve is inserted in the holder. The screening of the valve may be completed by providing a metal sheet or coating on one of the insulating sheets of the holder and connected to the valve screen preferably through the locating pin. Alternatively, the latter may be used as a contact pin, contact being made thereto through the spring catch.
