Abstract

334,865. Benjamin Electric, Ltd., and Campbell, G. June 10, 1929. Vacuum tubes.-A valve holder has a lower blank or base with openings shaped to receive sockets or contacts, and an upper blank or base with perforations to guide the valve pins into the sockets, the sockets being secured in position when the two blanks are connected together. As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the lower blank 4 consists of a disc of insulating material such as that known bv the Registered Trade Mark Bakelite, formed with openings 6, 7 to receive sockets 8, Fig. 5, and with perforations 5 for receiving the eyelets. The upper blank 1 consists of a disc with perforations receiving the valve pins and with perforations for eyelets. Each socket consists of a metal strip bent to U-shape and having horizontal parts 8<b>, 8<c> and a terminal plate 8<d>. Longitudinal slots 8g ensure resiliency. The contacts are passed through the openings 6 and the terminals 8d through the openings 7, so that the parts 8<b>, 8<c> lie on the blank 4. The blanks are then secured together by a central eyelet 3, and the holder may be secured by other eyelets to a support 12. A disc 9 may be mounted at the centre to guide the valve pins and a washer may be inserted between the blanks to allow a small movement of the sockets. The socket shown in Fig. 10 is made resilient, by the provision of bent parts 8f. In a holder for a five pin valve a socket is mounted at the centre. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 337,245.
