Abstract
417,309. Drying gases. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on- Main, Germany. March 22, 1934, No. 9000. Convention date, April 13, 1933. Addition to 394,086. [Class 34 (i).] The anhydrous calcium sulphate described in the parent Specification is used for drying gases which are indifferent to the sulphate, e.g. air, oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, ammonia, chlorine or sulphur dioxide. The proportions of gas and sulphate are so adjusted that the latter is converted to the semi-hydrate. Examples are given of drying air with continuous circulation of the sulphate, and of drying sulphur dioxide with periodic regeneration of the sulphate.
