Abstract
416,534. Magnetic separators. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. Aug. 2, 1933, No. 21753. Convention date, Aug. 16,1932. [Class 72.] In a magnetic separator in which the magnets 3 are mounted within rotary drums 2, and the material to be treated is fed thereto bv shoots 6, the drums 2 are mounted over a receptacle 1 filled with liquid and provided with adjustable weirs 5. The magnetic material and non-magnetic material adhering to or enclosed by magnetic materials which is washed off the drums 2 by the pipe 7 and drops into the tank 1 are returned into the same magnetic field for further treatment by a stream of water under pressure from a conduit 9. The non-magnetic material passes into a shoot 4 and the magnetic particles descend into the tank and are carried away by a pipe 8. In a modification, the drums are half immersed in the liquid and the non-magnetic material falls into side tanks also filled with liquid and is removed therefrom by pipes at the bottom of said tanks. In a further modification in which only one drum 2 is used, a baffle plate is provided opposite the mouth of the pipe 9, and a second tank filled with liquid is provided for the reception of the non-magnetic material. When pulverulent material is treated, air or gas may be introduced with the liquid through the pipe 9.
