Abstract
206,475. Svensson, K.. J., and Norling, K. A. P. Nov. 3, 1922, [Convention date]. Separating by gravity; purifying liquids.- Mixed liquids are withdrawn from a tank 1, in which they tend to separate according to their specific gravities, through a pipe 5 and are passed into a separating device 3, such as a centrifugal drum or a filter, one of the liquids being returned through a pump 4 and pipe 7, which delivers into the tank 1 at the end where the liquid returned tends to collect. Fig. 1 shows apparatus for use when the lighter liquid is returned, the liquid being delivered at the top of the tank through a funnel-shaped inlet 9. A modification is described in which the part 9 is replaced by a small receptacle situated above the tank 1 and oonnacted therewith by a downwardly-flared neck. Fig. 5 shows a form of the apparatus suitable for use when the heavier liquid is returned. The arrangement is applicable where a plurality of inter-connected tanks replace the tank 1.
