Abstract

415,501. Holders for spools of twine &c. ROBERTSON, W., and OXLEY, C. W., Quebec Mills, Houghton Place, Beeston Road, Leeds. March 21, 1933, No. 8471. [Class 18.] In a holder for a spool or cheese of twine, &c. wherein the spool 4 is mounted on a vertical spindle 2 and is pressed down so that its lower end becomes embedded in a disc 5 of resilient material, e.g. soft rubber, which prevents the twine slipping off and passing between the lower end of the spool and the base 1 of the holder, the spindle 2 is associated with spring means to maintain the spool embedded in the disc 5. The spindle may be slit and expanded as at 2<x> to provide spring means to grip the interior of the cardboard, &c. core of the spool and maintain the latter in position. The disc 5 may be secured in the holder by adhesive &c. The twine is drawn off through an aperture in a frame 7, and one of the limbs of the latter carries a holder 8 for a cutting blade. The invention is also applicable to a holder in which the spool rotates.
