Abstract

413,552. Pistons. CLENCH, C., Great Danes, Hollingbourne, Kent. Nov. 21, 1933, No. 32508. [Class 122 (i).] A light metal piston is provided with a split bearing ring 20 overlapping the gudgeon pin and a pair of arcuate bearing pads 24 of less radius than the piston skirt, whereby the piston body is prevented from bearing on the cylinder wall. The pads may be between or below the ends of the gudgeon pin and are retained in position by pins 27. The bearing ring groove may be recessed at 19 adjacent the ends of the gudgeon pin to allow for expansion of the bosses.
