412,677. Adjustable seats. THOMAS, E. E., (Representative of THOMAS, S. E.), Tregarth, Bath Road, Cranford, Hounslow, Middlesex, and QUICKTHO (1928), Ltd., Point Pleasant, Wandsworth, London. Feb. 10, 1933, No. 4157. [Class 52 (ii).] A seat is provided with hand-operated means for adjusting the angular position of the seat and back comprising rotary operating mechanism engaging the forward portion of the seat framework so as to move the seat forwardly or rearwardly, and the seat is so supported that when it is moved forwardly its front edge rises and its rear edge is lowered, while when moved backwardly the front edge is lowered and the rear edge rises. Link mechanism may be provided to alter the angle of the back as the seat is adjusted. The seat a is mounted on a base plate b which is supported by pivoted links c d above a fixed base i. The space between the base-plate b and the base i is enclosed by a framework, the front member k<1> of which moves with the seat. The member k' is adjusted horizontally by means of a screwed spindle l which engages a threaded bearing n secured to the base i. The back s is pivoted at t, and arms r below the pivot are connected by links p to the upper pivots e of the front seatsupporting links c. The links c, d are of such lengths and so disposed that the front of the seat rises and the rear is lowered as the seat is moved forward. In an alternative construction, the links operating the back are connected to the rear seat-supporting links.
