Abstract
411,544. Photographic developing- apparatus. MASON, B. B., The Boathouse, West Mersea, and MASON & SONS, Ltd., E. N., Arclight Works, Colchester, both in Essex. Dec. 14, 1932, No. 35437. [Class 98 (ii).] In a machine for developing diazotype prints, the sheets to be developed are guided onto a developer roller by means of a set of thin blades or vanes set at right angles to the roller and spaced apart. The blades may be mounted on a shaft parallel to the axis of the developer roller so as to be movable into and out of the operative position, in which position a small clearance is left between the blades and the roller. The blades may be formed as blocks having a projecting central rib of the same curvature as the roller. After leaving the developer roller the sheets may be passed between or over absorbent surfaces or rollers. In the form shown, the sheets are passed over a roller 1, revolving in a bath 2 of developer fed from a bottle, being guided by vanes 7 spaced apart by blocks 30 on a shaft 31. The sheets are removed from the roller by take-off fingers 11 and passed by transfer vanes 12 to a pair of absorbent rollers 13, 14. The absorbent rollers may consist of discs of blotting paper clamped on a shaft, of a number of refractory fireclay cylinders on a shaft 17, or of a layer of blotting paper wound on a metal cylinder. The shaft 31 carrying the vanes is borne by arms 9 pivoted at 10. The shafts of the developer roller and the lower absorbent roller are coupled by a chain 15. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 367,644.
