Calendering; glazing.-Apparatus for polishing or glossing photographs consists of a polishing drum A over which the moistened paper C passes as the drum rotates, the paper being kept in contact with the drum by rollers B. A casing F surrounding the drum is provided with a source of hot air which is forced by a fan E over the surface of the paper in contact with the drum, the hottest part being where the paper leaves the drum. The temperature is adjusted so as not to melt the gelatine or other surface of the paper. A high-speed polishing-brush F<1> keeps the drum polished.
