Abstract

[Class 98 (ii)] Continuous patterns on bookbinding fabric webs are produced by coating one side of the web with light-sensitive emulsion, feeding it continuously in a dry condition over an endless circulating design carrier which rotates with the web, a source of light being arranged inside the design carrier, and passing it over a developing device which moistens one side of the web only, and a drying drum over which it passes, with the exposed side outwards, to a winding roll. The sensitized web m passes from the roll a over a transparent cylinder d carrying the design dd, thence over a roller f dipping in a bath of developer g, and a drying drum h to the winding drum i. A light source e is placed inside the cylinder d. The design dd is wrapped round the cylinder or slipped on as a sleeve or it may be applied directly to the cylinder.
