Abstract

411,370. Electrically-actuated valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd., Windmill Road, Sunbury, Middlesex, and PAYNE, M., 50, Hook Road, Surbiton, Surrey. Nov. 14, 1933, No. 31729. [Class 135.] A valve 1 is actuated by an electric motor 4 mounted upon the casing 5 of a reduction gearing, the pinion 11 of which is connected to a spindle 8 in threaded engagement with the valve 1. The motor 4 is provided with opposed windings 22 and the direction of rotation of the motor is controlled by a single pole two-way switch 23. The motor is designed so that it may be left in a stalled position whilst energized. The switch 23 may be actuated by a thermostat installed in a chamber supplied by steam or other heating fluid by the valve 1.
