Abstract
409,883. Lubricating. BROWN & SONS, (HUDDERSFIELD), Ltd., D., and MERRITT, H. E., Park Gear Works, Lockwood, Huddersfield. March 25, 1933, No. 9015. [Class 12 (iii).] Oil picked up by a gear wheel c from the sump h of a gear casing is removed by collector plates g and delivered to gutters i formed on the inner walls of the casing from whence it passes through passages in the casing to chambers f at the outer ends of the bearings d for the spindle c<1> of the gear wheel. The oil then passes inwardly through the bearings and returns to the sump h. The oil level in the chambers f is limited by recesses k leading from the chambers f to the sump h. Throwers m may be provided on the shaft b to throw oil on to the gear c if the oil level in the sump falls below the gear b<1>.
