Abstract
355,427. Lubricating by mechanical means. BAMFORD, J., St. Mary's Mount, and BAMFORD, C. J., The Parks, both in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. June 28, 1930, No. 19687. [Class 12 (iii).] To lubricate the driving-gear of a mower an oilraising member comprising a rotating disc, rim, or member other than the gear teeth of a gear wheel is adapted to engage at its lower edge in the oil while working. In the form shown the bevel wheel 15 driving the bevel pinion 16 on the usual forwardly-extending crank-pin shaft is provided with a relatively thin rim 20 that engages in the oil 19 carried in the gear casing 23 and throws it upward thus causing it to flow to the bearings of the shafts. A pipe or pipes may be provided on the upper surface of the cover 24 of the casing to facilitate the conveyance of oil to desired points. The rim 20 may be divided by recesses 21. The rim may be formed on a separate member or it may be carried by a spur-wheel.
