Abstract
483,439. Driving and steering endlesstrack vehicles. ZAVODY TATRA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST PRO STAVBU AUTOMOBILU A ZELEZNICNICH VOZU. July 6, 1937, No. 18751. Convention date, July 9, 1936. [Class 79 (ii)] The endless tracks 2, 2<1> are driven and steered through a change - speed gear comprising a common driving shaft and a separate driven shaft 3, 3<1> for each track a plurality of pairs oi gear wheels being pro vided for driving each driven shaft from the driving shaft at different speed ratios, the gear pairs being independently selectable so that the shafts 3, 31 may be driven at the same speed for each of the speed ratios provided or at different speeds for steering. In the arrangement shown the gear pairs II, III are engaged, the track 2 is driven at a slower rate than the track 2<1> and the vehicle is steered in the direction of the arrow I. Synchromesh gears may be provided.
