Abstract

403,449. Tractor or like vehicle driving-gear. HAMILL, W. W., Beechcroft, Four Oaks Road, Four Oaks, Warwickshire, SCOTT, R. E., Wolmer View, Whitehill, Borden, Hampshire, and KITCHENHAM, S., 17, Michelham Gardens, Strawberry Hill, Middlesex. June 30, 1932, No. 18476. [Class 79 (ii).] Comprises a rear axle reduction gear and casing, a change-speed gear and casing adjacent the rear axle, and a plurality of power takeoff points located at the rear of the tractor and adapted to drive external machines. In the construction shown a power take-off shaft 3 is driven from one of the shafts 18 of the changespeed gear and drives a continuation shaft 8 through a clutch 5, and a belt pulley 9 through bevel gear 11, 12 and a clutch 16. A third power take-off shaft 20 may be driven from the shaft 3 through a chain 22 and a clutch 23. The shaft 20 is preferably below the shaft 3 and the shaft and chain 22 are enclosed in a casing 1, the chain being adapted to raise and distribute oil so as to lubricate the various parts.
