[Class 12 (iii).] In a mowing-machine having a reciprocating cutter bar actuated from a shaft 28 driven by a gear wheel 16 on a shaft 13 geared to one of the supporting wheels o f the machine, lubricant contained in the gear case 10 is thrown by the wheel 16 against the cover 12 and drips from projections 18, 19 into cups 20, 24 connected respectively through pipes 21, 25 to passages 22, 26 supplying the bearings of the shafts 13, 28 through passages 23, 29. Alternatively, the cover 12 may be provided with ribs or gutters along which the lubricant flows to pockets leading to the bearing passages. Specification 355,427 is referred to.
