Abstract

A water-repellant product consists of a semiliquid mixture of an ammonium soap and an alkaline silicate containing excess of aqueous ammonia, made, for example, by saponifying by aqueous ammonia mutton tallow or oil of wool grease mixed with sodium silicate.ALSO:A water-repellent product consists of a semi-liquid mixture of an ammonium soap and an alkaline silicate containing excess of aqueous ammonia, made, for example, by saponifying mutton tallow or oil of wool grease mixed with sodium silicate with an aqueous ammonia solution. Building materials such as concrete may be made impermeable to moisture by incorporating the product therein during manufacture.
