Abstract

290,042. Laurie, A. P. May 12, 1927. Compound slabs; waterproofing.-A slab for walls, &c. consists of an asbestos cement sheet coated with a mixture of granulated cork and silicate of soda. The asbestos cement sheet may be coated with a thin layer of silicate of soda before the application of the cork composition. After drying the slab, it may be waterproofed by soaking in a bath of calcium chloride and subsequently washing with water, and in this case the asbestos cement sheet may be coated with a solution of calcium chloride before applying the coating of silicate of soda. A second sheet of asbestos cement may be applied to the cork composition to form a three-part slab.
