Abstract

406,922. Gate or sluice valves. ETABLISSEMENTS P. COLOMBIER FILS, 84, Cours de Vincennes, Paris. July 27, 1933, No. 21163. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1932. [Class 135.] In a double-gate parallel slide valve the valve discs 8, 9, are wedged apart in the closed position against their seatings 10, 11 by oppositely -disposed wedging members 14, 15 operatively connected to the valve actuating means, guide ribs 12, 13 being provided to prevent the valve discs 8, 9 from being thrust apart until they reach the closing position. The valve discs are embraced by a carrier ring 6 carried by the valve spindle 3, and the two wedging members 14 and 15 are independently carried by pins 16 and 17, respectively, and are biassed apart by a spring 21. As the discs 8, 9 reach their closing position the pin 17 abuts at 19 on the bottom of the valve casing, whereby the wedge 15 operates to force the discs apart ; at the same time the spindle 3 abutting against the pin 16 causes an equal spreading effort of the wedge 14. The wedges are parallelopipedons of trapezoidal section.
