Abstract

372,782. Sluice valves. TAYLOR, A. R., Norton Hall, The Green, Norton-on- Tees, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London. Feb. 11, 1931, No. 4327. [Class 135.] Wedging.-In a sluice valve in which the valve discs 1 are tightened against their seats 8 by a wedge 6, the thrust of the wedge is arranged to be transmitted through coaxial spherically seated members 4 on which the discs are selfadjusting for true seating. The seating for the spherically-formed member is replaceable in the discs. The yoke 2 carrying the valve discs extends downwards to act as a stop 9 on the bottom of the casing when the discs are in register with their seatings 8. The invention is applicable to a valve having a single closure disc. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 10188/95, [Class 135, Valves &c.].
