Abstract

431,420. Valves. DEWRANCE, SIR J., 165, Great Dover Street, Southwark, and ARMSTRONG, C. H., 38, Southfields, Hendon, both in London. March 19, 1934, No. 8554. [Class 135] In a screw-down or other valve of the kind in which a stationary valve seating 1<c> is arranged around a ported sleeve 1 with which co-operates an inverted cup-like piston member 3 in such a manner that the ports 1<d> in the sleeve are not uncovered until the seating faces 1<c>, 3<c> are separated, the ports 1<d> taper in an outward direction towards the stationary seating to increase the protection of the faces 1<c>, 3<c>. For this purpose the ports are of rectangular shape with their upper and lower edges bevelled. As applied to a double blow-off valve in which the inlet passage of the valve is controlled by a parallel slide valve, the screw-threaded part 1<a> of the sleeve 1 is arranged to form one of the seats of the slide valve.
