Abstract
414,518. Screw - down valves. BRINDLEY, J. W., 58, Von Brandis Street, Johannesburg, South Africa. Aug. 14, 1933, No. 22678. [Class 135.] In screw-down valves of the type in which the seat 7 for the valve 16 is maintained in the recess 8 by a ported cage 9 engaged by a cover 24 screwing in the valve body 10, annular grooves 15, 27 are formed in the edges of the cage 9 and body 10 respectivey and are engaged by corresponding projections on the cover 24 to form fluid-tight joints. Both inner edges 17 of the seat 7 are made conical so as also to fit the valve 16 when the seat is reversed. The inner face 6 of the inlet passage 4 is curved for smooth flow of fluid. The lower portion of the cage is recessed at 13 to clear the valve body.
