[Class 75 (iv).] An illuminated street post or traffic beacon comprises a reflecting cone a<1>, spaced slotted uprights d with which vertical, dished, enamelled panels e engage or combine, and an overhead canopy f carrying a reflector or curtain k and housing lamps j for illuminating the panels. In the form shown, the beacon is supported by a cast-iron base a secured to a foundation b by rag-bolts b<6>. The conical reflector a<1> is formed integral with the base and carries the uprights d and also a central tube c which houses the leads h for the lamps and for an overhead beacon light g. The vertical edges of the panels engage in the slots in the uprights and their lower edges bear against the cone a<1>. The curtain k may be enamelled on the interior to assist in the illumination of the panels and cone. In a modification, the canopy consists of a spun cap which is screwed to a casting comprising three arms extending radially from a central socket which fits over the upper end of the tube c, each arm being formed at its outer end with a socket for fitting over an upright d. The curtain presents nine faces, some of which may carry coloured glass panels adjacent the lamps j.
