683,714. Electric battery lamps. DENNY, C. W. April 23, 1951 [April 26, 1950], No. 10252/50. Class 75(iv) In a lamp of the kind provided with a tubular light - transmitting sleeve which is slidable axially relative to a bulb and associated reflector and provided along its length with two or more coloured portions for transmitting light of different colours, e.g. for signalling, the sleeve d, d' is slidably mounted within an aperture at the centre of the front glass or lens f<SP>1</SP> of the lamp and operated by a direct push or pull upon a flange or knob k. The lens is preferably made of transparent plastic material. Outward movement of the sleeve is limited by a lateral stud f on the portion behind the lens. Two degrees of inward movement are obtained by providing the flange k with an aperture e<SP>1</SP>, and the lens with a projecting stud or stop e, so that by rotating the sleeve to align the aperture with the stop the full inward movement of the sleeve is obtained and the green portion thereof Jsurrounds the bulb c, otherwise the inward movement is limited by the stop e and the red portion of the sleeve surrounds the bulb. A white light is. obtained by withdrawing the sleeve to the position shown in the drawing. The surface c<SP>1</SP> of the half of the bulb remote from the lamp cap is silvered and painted to prevent stray light from the bulb entering the sleeve.
