Abstract
406,145. Cigarette-making machines. BECO MASCHINENFABRIK GES., 7, Riesaer Strasse, and LORENTZ, V., 12, N³rnberger Strasse, both in Dresden, Germany. April 18, 1933, No. 11326. [Class 130.] In the pneumatic feeding of tobacco to a cigarette-making machine, a plurality of dust and tobacco separators 4a - - - 4d, Fig. 1, are arranged over a common spreader 3 and each is connected to a feeding table 1a - - - 1d by a conduit 2a - - - 2d and to a common exhaust 6 communicating with a fan by a conduit 5a - - 5d, the construction being such that tobacco of different kinds may be fed to the spreader and maintained on the latter in separate heaps. The conduits 5 are provided with valves 7a--- 7d so that the separators can be charged one at a time. The separators may be fed from a common feeding table, the tobacco being directed to any one of them by a hand-operated valve disposed in the feed conduit, or by the arrangement shown in Fig. 4. The latter comprises a flap-valve in the form of a channel 20 which is connected at one end to the feed conduit 11 and is pivoted at 18 in a casing 17 having ports leading to the separator conduits 2, these conduits having valves 22 similar to the valves 7 in the exhaust conduits 5. Upon opening the valves 7, 22 in the conduits of one separator the free end of the valve 20 will move automatically to the port in its casing corresponding to this separator and permit flow of tobacco to same. The valve 20 may, if desired, be operated manually. In a modification the feed conduit 33<1> is branched off into two conduits and each of these is branched off into two conduits to form the four conduits 2, an automatically-operated flap valve, somewhat similar to that of the previous construction, being employed at the three branches for directing the flow of tobacco. In a further modification, Fig. 7, a straight feed conduit 33<1> branches in a lateral direction towards the different separators, flap valves 35-36 being provided as shown.
