Abstract

920,884. Feeding tobacco. VOKES Ltd. July 1, 1959 [July 1, 1958], No. 21116/58. Class 130. [Also in Group XXX] A fan 6, Fig. 1, with a flat characteristic curve, e.g. a paddle-blade fan with an axial inlet and a single tangential outlet, entrains tobacco from a table 1 via individual pipes 3 to hoppers 4, each hopper delivering to a cigarette-making machine 13 when a valve 11, Fig. 4, in the hopper air outlet 10 to the fan suction duct 5 is closed electromagnetically or by hand, the flat fan characteristic ensuring that the resulting decrease in air flow does not affect the air flow in other pipes 3. The fan 6 may be only of sufficient power to supply half the machines 13 at once. The hoppers 4 have an inlet 9, a tobacco delivery flap 12 and a screen 12a. The table 1 is supplied by hand from hoppers 2. The fan 6 returns air to adjacent the table 1 via a dust collector 8. Specification 350,324 is referred to.
