Abstract
403,678. Folding chairs. WAYMAN, A. H., 37, St. Germans Road, Forest Hill, and SMITH & SONS (CHAIRS), Ltd., E., 9, Canal Road, Kingsland Road, both in London. June 21, 1932, No. 17499. [Class 52 (ii).] A folding and adjustable chair comprises crossed frames a and b, a back frame e pivotally connected to the upper end of the frame b, with means such as a cross bar g at the lower end of the back frame e adapted to engage either frictionally or positively with the frame a to make the structure rigid under load. The seat is a strip of flexible material, and arm rests k and a leg rest n may be provided. The bar g engages the back part of the frame a over a limited angle of adjustment with sufficient friction to hold the chair in adjusted position ; outside this angle, notches h or other means of positive engagement may be provided. In the extreme position shown in Fig. 3, the bar g is held in the angle between the frames a and b.
