Abstract

403,126. Discharge rectifiers. SOC. ANON. HEWITTIC, and DEMONTVIGNIER, M., 11, Rue du Pont, Suresnes, France. May 24, 1933, No. 15020. Convention date, June 16, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] To protect the glass walls from the electrostatic field of the anode, a rectifier having a gas or vapour filling is provided with a control grid 14, Fig. 4, connected to an external screen 15 which is adapted completely to surround the anode and control grid and is connected to a potential considerably below that of the anode. The grid is housed within a glass sleeve 17 and the leading-in wire therefor is screened by a metal hood 20. In a modification, the grid is connected to a guard ring 19, Fig. 5 which is located externally of the glass sleeve and an insulator 18 is provided between the screen 15 and the anode.
