Convention date, Oct. 20, 1931. [Class 35.] Motors with unwound iron armatures.-A selfstarting synchronous motor having a bi-polar stator core with a ring of teeth has the teeth on the unwound rotor skewed so that each one co-operates simultaneously with more than one stator tooth, and the number of rotor teeth is equal to the number of stator teeth or a multiple thereof. In the form shown, teeth 16 carried by a non-magnetic ring 17 are placed in contact with the faces of shaded stator poles 15 and surround the sleeve 14 which extends from the gear casing 10 and encloses the rotor 11 the teeth of which preferably are so spiralled that each spans the gap between two adjacent stator teeth.
