Abstract
402,204. Riveted Joints. LONGLEY, A. H., 217, Westminster Buildings, Doncaster. Aug. 30, 1932, No. 24215. [Class 83 (iv).] In a pit tub or like vehicle body of the kind that is built up of separate side, end, and bottom plates detachably secured together, the end plates b are formed at the corners with inturned flanges d lying adjacent to the side plates, the side plates c are provided with flanges which first bend inwardly at e to overlap the end plates and then outwardly at f to project away from the end plates, while the bottom plate is formed with an upturned flange a and the several parts are secured by a strap g engaging the overlapping portions of the side and end plates both internally and externally and abutting against the flanges d, f. The ends of the strap g, which may be made in one or two pieces, abut against the bottom plate both internally and externally, and are secured thereto by bolts or rivets.
