Sides and floors.-In pit tubs &c. rigid closely-fitting joints formed by interlocking parts of U-shaped section are provided on the wall plates of the body or on the junction plates for the body walls and, if desired, on two opposite edges of the bottom plate either above or below the general level thereof, the parts being engaged or disengaged by a sliding movement which is vertical with respect to the side walls and horizontal with respect to the bottom plate. As shown, the side plates b, Fig. 2, of a pit tub have opposite edges bent over to a U- shape to interlock with the similarly bent edges of end plates a, bolts d securing the plates a, b together and to upturned flanges c<1>, c<2> on the bottom plate c. The parts are preferably bent to bring the outside part of the joint flush with the end plate a. Alternatively, the bottom plate e, Fig. 3, may be joined to the side plates f by joints formed by interlocking parts of U-shaped section lying either below the plate e, as shown, or above it.
