Corves ; sides; floors.- In building up the body of a vehicle such as a pit tub or wagon the bottom a has its edges bent inwardly at a<2> to a hook formation and the ends e, f and sides c, d have their lower edges formed with hook portions g<3>, g<5> complementary to the hook portions a<2> and their vertical edges with hook portions g<2>, g' complementary to each other, the body being assembled by giving the sides and ends, in proper sequence, an horizontal sliding movement outwardly relative to the bottom so as to cause the hook portions to inter-engage. The pressure of the load normally tends to hold the parts in engagement, but positive securing-means, such as angle-straps i engaging the sides and ends, and corner cleats j bolted to the bottom a are provided. A flat-bottomed tub or wagon body is illustrated in Figs. 1 and 3, the ends e, f being engaged with the bottom prior to the sides c, d being engaged with the bottom and ends. In the case of a well-bottomed wagon, to which a buffer beam x of the construction described in Specification 222,705, [Class 103 (v), Railway &c. vehicles, Draught &c. appliances for], is to be applied, the hook portions of the bottom do not extend along the edges of the wall a<3>, Fig. 7, but, above the well, the hook portions g' of the ends e, f are engaged with a flange x<3> on the buffer beam. An extension x<4> of the buffer beam passes through a slot y in the hook portion g' into a slot a<4> in the bottom a and is riveted to the vertical walls a<5> of the well by means of a U- shaped plate x<6>.
