Abstract

450,258. Coke - quenching wagons. WELLMAN SMITH OWEN ENGINEERING CORPORATION, Ltd., and SMITH, S., Victoria Station House, Victoria Street, Westminster. Jan. 12, 1935, No. 1138. [Class 51 (ii)] The inclined floor of a coke-quenching wagon is constructed of plates 3 supported at their side edges on transverse flanged rails 1, each plate being formed, on its underside, with lugs 3<a> which engage below the flanges 1<a> at the tops of the rails 1. The plates 3, which are provided with stiffening ribs 3b, are slid into position from either the upper or lower side of the wagon, and are rabbeted at their upper edges 3<c> so that each plate, when in position overlaps the adjacent one. Channel-section supporting rails, secured to the end walls 5, are provided at the ends of the wagon, as shown at 4, Fig. 4, and tie-rods 6 extend between adjacent rails.
