Abstract
401,408. Weighing-apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., TIMSON, W., and JONES, W., Soho Foundry, Birmingham. June 22, 1932, No. 17594. [Class 143.] Counting by weighing.-A weighing-machine for use in counting articles in bulk is provided with a compound lever system from two of the levers of which system ratio pans are suspended, one of the levers being connected to a spring resistant and the other to an indicator whereby the parts of the lever system are normally maintained in balanced position and indicated to be in that position. The articles to be counted are placed on a platform supported by the usual levers and draw rod 1 from a lever 4 controlled by a spring resistant 20. A ratio pan 16 is suspended from the lever 4 and a second ratio pan 17 from a lever 14 connected by shackles 10, 11 to the lever 4, the arrangement being that the leverage ratio between the pan 17, the pan 16 and the platform is 99 : 9 : 1. A pointer 18 carried by the lever 14 co-operates with a fixed index 19 to indicate when the mechanism is in balanced condition.
