400,841. Vehicle-suspension systems. BUGATTI, E., Molsheim, Bas-Rhin, France. March 23, 1933, No. 8813. Convention date, March 25, 1932. [Class 108 (iii).] In suspension devices for vehicles of the kind comprising a shoe and a slideway an elastic cushion is combined with the shoe or slideway or both to absorb small shocks and oscillations directly parallel to the sliding surface. As shown, the spring is secured to a shoe, the sole plate 9 of which slides in a slideway comprising two plates 14, 15 connected together by a rubber &c. cushion 13 by means of ribs and recesses. In lieu thereof or in addition the shoe may comprise two sole plates connected together by an elastic cushion. The cushion absorbs such oscillations or move ments which are insufficient to overcome the frictional resistance of the sliding surfaces. The rubber cushion may be vulcanized to the plates or otherwise secured.
