Abstract
447,588. Indiarubber &c. springs. MICHELIN & CIE, Clermont Ferrand, Puy de Dome, France. Aug. 3, 1935, No. 22083. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1934. [Class 108 (iii)] A shock - absorbing device for damping relative movements between spring-separated parts, such as the sprung and unsprung parts of a vehicle, comprises one or more fixed plates and one or more movable plates connected together by a mass of rubber or the like which is vulcanized or otherwise secured to the plates so as to absorb shear, torsion, and other stresses. As shown in Fig. 2, a fixed plate 4 bolted to a member 5 is connected by a rubber block 9 to a movable plate 7 controlled by a link 8. Fig. 3 shows a fixed plate 10 rigid with a spindle 11 secured to members 12 and movable plates 13 integral with a rod 14, the plates 10, 13 being connected by a rubber block 15. The spindle 11 passes with clearance through the block and limits its displacements. The block may be hollow or contain openings and may have a wavy periphery. The invention may be used to connect a railway vehicle bogie with an axle or bolster. Specification 363,039 is referred to.
