Abstract
163,009. Leboucher, P. J. May 8. 1920, [Convention date]. Axle trucks a n d bogies. - In a railway or like vehicle, a system of side balancers for absorbing or damping the lateral tilting movement of the vehicle body with respect to the bogie frame, and also for retaining the points of suspension of the body in a constant plane, consist of a main pivot and independent devices arranged on either side of the vehicle, which connect the body and the bogies, the devices comprising pivoted levers and a spring- controlled member to absorb the tilting movement of the vehicle. The. body a is supported at each of its ends by means of a spherical pivot b on the frame c of the bogie. On either side of this pivot, in a transverse direction, are arranged the balancing systems d, e, Fig. 2, each of which rests on a seat f connected to the bogie. Each of these balancing systems has a set of two levers g, h, Fig. 3, pivoted at i, j, respectively to the seat f and pivoted by their other end to an horizontal connecting-link k. This link k carries a cylinder m which contains a coiled spring n compressed by a piston o which can move along the cylinder m and rotate about its axis. The piston o carries the trunnion p rigidly connected to the body a of the vehicle. The dimensions of the parts are such that under normal load the movements of the trunrion p, due to radiation of the bogie, takes place in a horizontal plane. The spring n may be replaced. by any other suitable elastic device and the side balancers mav be inverted.
