Abstract

Steam, oil, water, or compressed air is admitted at d and passes through a tapering nozzle c<1> to the wheel k, and exhausts to a centre space l before being led to grooves r or bore holes s. The open face of the wheel is closed by a plate i, or another wheel may abut against the face of the wheel k. A fixed eccentric p, in a bush q, intermittently closes ports m, n, to interrupt the passage of the driving fluid. The discharge may be uncontrolled. Several wheels may be mounted on one shaft, some being arranged for driving in the opposite direction.
