Abstract
187,678. Richardson, J., and Richardson, J. July 19, 1921. Self-driving machines.-In turbines driven by compressed air, steam, &c., the rotor B is mounted in a pressure-tight casing and is provided with wedge-shaped pockets B<1> having lips B<2> at their front leading edges. The inlet nozzles F<2> are placed as shown, and exhaust ports F are provided which allow only enough air to escape to prevent the rotor becoming pressure locked. The inlet nozzles and pockets B<1> may be arranged on either side of the rotor so as to permit reversal of the turbine.
