Abstract

397,105. Cut-outs. JENKINS, F. T., 33, St. Stephen's House, Westminster. Nov. 12, 1931, No. 31351. [Class 38 (i).] A gas-discharge tube is provided in association with an electrie mercurial cut-out to indicate the continuous or interrupted condition of the cut-out. The cut-out comprises a cartridge 1 with terminal members 2, 3 and secured thereto by screws 8 is the housing 7 enclosing the indicating-tube 6. This tube is arranged between the contact elements 9, one of the contact elements having a helical spring 10 to engage the tube. A sight window 11 is provided in the housing. In modifications the housing forms an integral part of the cut-out. The discharge tube may have external electrodes formed by a coating 25 of metallic paint or foil with a narrow gap between, the gap being widened at the point where the glow is to be viewed.
