396,980. Treating paper. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, London.-(Brown Co. ; 404, Commercial Street, Portland, Maine, U.S.A.) Nov. 21, 1932, No. 32880. [Class 96.] Paper containing viscose is deodorized by treatment with an oxidizing agent either during manufacture, as by impregnating a web of paper material with viscose and then treating the web with an oxidizing agent or by treating the finished viscose-containing paper. The paper may be partially dried before treatment. Chlorine as a gas or in solution is preferred as an oxidizing agent. Alternatively ozone, sodium hypochlorite, or sodium or hydrogen peroxide may be used.
