Abstract

293,962. Dean, N. C. June 18, 1927. Respirators.-Coke, vegetable carbon, and other carbonaceous absorbent material for use in respirators, gas masks, &c. is rendered fireproof by treatment with a solution of sodium or other alkali metal tungstate to which sodium or other alkali metal phosphate is preferably added. The material may, after drying, be dipped in fused caustic alkali to make it a carbon dioxide absorbent.
