Abstract

307,600. Chemical Engineering & Wilton's Patent Furnace Co., Ltd., Wilton, T. 0., and Parker, J. Feb. 10, 1928. Drying gases. - Fuel gases are dried by passage first through hygroscopic substances, e.g. calcium chloride solution and sulphuric acid, and then through packings to retain any suspended liquid and deleterious fumes. The packing is neutral or alkaline and may consist of pumice stone, followed by magnesite or calcite. The gases pass through traps to retain spray between the steps, and the substances may be cooled. Sulphuric acid is withdrawn before it is too dilute, and used in the manufacture of ammonium sulphate. Specification 268,429, [Class 26, Closets &c.] is referred to.
