Gewinnung von schwefliger Säure und Kalk aus Gips. In den Patentschriften 307772, 3396I=, 347694 und 349347 ist ein zwischen + Io5o ° C und 1150 ' C vor sich gehendes Verfahren beschrieben, gemäß welchem man aus Gips und Schwefelcalcium Kalk und schweflige Säure gewinnt. Bei Nachprüfung dieses Verfahrens wurde gefunden, daß die Umsetzung viel leichter und ohne Zuschläge, Lufteinblasen oder Körnung vor sich geht, wenn man den Gips nicht mit dem Sulfid zur Reduktion bringt, sondern ihn vorher mit der wäßrigen Lösung des Sulfhydrats mischt. Eine homogene Mischung aus dem unlöslichen Sulfat und dem löslichen Sulfhydrat ist ohne weiteres herzustellen, wodurch schon rein mechanisch das Verfahren erleichtert wird. Man gelangt im Falle des Gipses z. B. bereits bei Temperaturen zwischen + 9oo ° C und + Iooo ° C unter Abspaltung der Gesamtmenge an schwefliger Säure zu einem sehr reinen Kalk. Außerordentlich wichtig ist der Ausschluß der Luft während der Reduktion, da sonst das Sulfhydrat bzw.
